I have been reading this book from my local library and it is beautiful. Once again, one of my favorite parts about Hadestown is the lyrics, and getting an explanation of the process from Anais Mitchell herself is wonderful. I have also heard wonderful things about her audiobook version. Go take a listen on Audible or wherever books are sold.
Seriously, just go listen to this soundtrack. I suggest listening to the whole production to get a feel for the story, it brings you along pretty easily. You can find it on any streaming platform. And while you’re at it, listen to the 2010 concept album. See if you can point out the differences.
